A new found obsession, (that may or may not have almost killed me)
okay maybe not, I’m a drama queen but it did get the best of me and I’ll tell ya why
1/2 cup Chia Seeds
2 cups Almond OR Coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Optional to top:
Half of a banana
Mix ingredients well in bowl and refrigerate over night or at least 4 hours to allow chia to absorb the milk.
( Super easy to get creative with what you mix your chia seeds into, I actually used almond milk with a splash of vanilla almond coffee creamer for a sweeter flavor )
When ready top with banana, drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
This treat is sooo good and it has helped with my sweet tooth MAJORLY (maybe too much)
The warning part on this dessert is you CAN eat too much. The suggested intake of chia is usually a couple tablespoons a day, so watch how much you are consuming each day to avoid an AWFUL stomach ache.
YES I FOUND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY, BUUUUT. . .
Though this may seem like a pain in the butt, it really is a quick, healthy snack that tides you over with low calories. Chia is a great source of Omega-3 and fiber, which we could all use more of.
Now it’s time for the holy grail,
What I love about smoothie bowls is the wide array of combinations AND that I can add healthy stuff, without having the “healthy” taste (yeah you know what I’m talking about)
My go-to bowl is a strawberry-banana protein bowl
In a blender mix:
Fresh Sliced Banana
A couple scoops of PB Fit
Protein powder (optional)
A splash of your favorite milk product
My biggest question in life: Is it still considered a smoothie if there is milk in it? Or is it a milkshake?
I say it’s a smoothie, sounds better for me (but what do I know?)
ANYWAY. . .
When blended to your liking, top with fresh fruit, granola, chia seeds (but not too much ;)), honey or even melted PB <<< a fan fav
Try it out and let me know what you think in the comments!!
