Okay who am I kidding, nothing will ever be the new black (no matter how many Netflix series try to tell us differently). Dewy has been the movement to push aside matte covered faces + give us all the excuse to go make-up (or at least foundation) free for these hot few months. Something about looking like you just splashed your face (skin care commercial style) makes us all go crazy about taking care of ourselves, FINALLY. Skin care though has definitely climbed the charts to a number 1 in many of our hearts this summer, especially mine.
I use to just say, “who cares, if I’m tan I’m happy”, but oh how I was wrong. My skin HATED me. On vacation when the sunscreen was passed around I said no thank and went about my oil applying ways to get the darkest tan, the fastest. I was so stuck on making every second of that 11 grade UV count that my forehead turned to LEATHER. Like cozy couch in your basement that no matter how many times you want to get rid of you keep coming back to it, LEATHER.
After the most horrifying week of spring break from there on out I stuck to my moisturizers with my new fav bud, SPF. Even though I still feel like my tan could’ve been prettier (aka darker), I feel 1000x better knowing that I won’t have anymore permeant forehead freckles (ugh).
When the hot Florida sun isn’t a constant issue my skin care routine is a little different. I usually focus on how to keep my face clean, pimple free and hydrated. Now everybody’s skin is different so if you have oily skin, I hate to break it to ya but please do not follow this whatsoever.

That was a little harsh but lets get real, I’m just trying to help some sista’s out. The BIGGEST tip I can give anyone, girl guy oily dry is that doing more is sometimes just WAY TOO MUCH.

When starting down this journey of a “new me” I was washing my face twice a day, using charcoal cleansers & toners left and right, “MY SKIN IS GOING TO BE FLAWLESS”. Well I will tell you now, it most definitely wasn’t. I had random bumps and spots I had NEVER seen on my face in my life, all because I was an over achiever.
So there it is you guys, thats all. Don’t be an over achiever it will solve everything.
Just kidding thats not really how I feel . . I don’t think, idk kids are running around and I’m just not so sure of anything so take it as you will.
Back to the important stuff, my kinda almost every night routine:
(All products are labeled + links at bottom of page)
-ALWAYS take off all make up (just to do the least)
Depending on how your pores are doing, if good wash with a cleanser of choice then apply toner to clean out the days dirt + make up stuffed down deep, if not too good use a charcoal face scrub/cleanser with your handy dandy clarasonic (a wash cloth work fine too, use circle motions + apply pressure)
*On days I shower in the morning I apply a 60 second in shower facial to help add moisture + glow*
After your shower the worst habit ever that is so so so hard to break, but as I have recently learned it is apparently terrible to wipe your face down. I know I am guilty of it, but try to be more conscious and PAT not wipe.
Now after you pat, pat, pat, comes the moisturizer
-first I like to start with the eyes, normally I use an anti aging eye cream OR perfecting serum. ONCE AGAIN, make sure you are patting this around the eyes not rubbing (skin around the eye is VERY sensitive)
-after allowing the eyes to set for 2-3 minutes (usually the time it takes to brush your teeth) i move to all over face moisturizer.

You are suppose to start using anti aging products @ the ripe young age of 19!!
At night depending on how dry my skin is/how healthy it is looking:
When it seems pretty dry or I feel like my skin is perfectly clear I use my anti aging moisturizer mixed with refined coconut oil. I do a 50/50 mixture on the back of my hand then apply gently to my face in a circular motion (it doesn’t take much, don’t over do it)
For when I feel like my skin needs a little bit more of a pick me up:
-apply a little bit of hydrating booster to dry spots (let dry)
– rub in anti aging moisturizer
-pat problem areas (pimples, bumps, zits) with alcohol swabs to dry out & get rid of quicker
-Pat face with wash cloth soaked in COLD water (helps wake you up + open pores)
-repeat eye routine
-apply my absolute FAVORITE daily moisturizer, the belif Moisturizing Bomb (you guys will never stop hearing about this one so give in & buy it already)
-mist with hydrating coconut water for extra shine aka dewiness
So there you have it. A long long post that I hope you chugged through just so you can find out that in a post so soon, a GIVEAWAY will be happening again for the month of August. Get out there you skin care lovin people and show the world your fresh new face.
